I am a retired professor (experimental biopsychology) and a dog trainer. My unique perspective is in applying scientific knowledge to the art of dog training. I emphasize the communication of information between the owner and dog, the bond or relationship that is formed, as well as the use of behaviors the dog likes to perform as a way of motivating appropriate behavior. For my views regarding the use of reward and punishment, see this article.
